After missing an invite to the WGC – Mexico, he’s back boys. After the most hyped, over-televised T8 in the history of golf, Sam Burns is back. This time he’ll be paired up at the Valspar Championship at Innisbrook with another legend, Baylor School grad Stephan Jaeger. The fact that Sam Burns got a PGATour.com cover the day before a tournament blows my mind. His week off back at LSU was so riveting that the guys at the home page for golf internet put him on a cover.
“I kind of miss it,” Burns said about college. Thanks dude.
The best part of Sam Burns’ fame is that hopefully Jaeger will catch some residual Tiger airtime juices from Burns.
Speaking of Baylor boys, Luke List and Harris English are in the field, while Keith Mitchell barely missed sneaking in the alternates despite coming in T11 last year here. Luke is looking to notch his eventual first win. Harris played this course well since his amateur days and Paulie’s Picks at the Fried Egg has him at a longshot to win at 100-1. My bookie has him matched up at -1/2 against CT Pan tomorrow. I’m putting my tax return on it. Which isn’t much but it’s all I got.
Old dudes Steve Stricker, Geoff Ogilvy, Ernie Els, and DL3 read in the Monday paper that Phil won at 47 so they decided to get their pull-carts out and join the field this week. (Ogilvy is only 40 but his name even sounds like old so I threw him in there.)
CPO favorite Tom Hoge makes his triumphant return and look for him to settle his nerves after shooting a million at the Honda. Dylan Meyer has stolen meyer heart with his PGA Tour pic.
Also he’s got some poo poo issues and I’ve been battling constipation since I got back from a bachelor party in Belize. Shouts out to the boom boom boys.
An original favorite of CPO Dominic Bozzelli is a sneaky good pick this week. Last year Dom came in 3rd and he’s been relatively hot as of late. The popular pick I’ve seen around is Tony Finau, because I think a lot of people saw this Instagram of him banana hooking an iron out of the woods. As a sucker for Instagram vids I’m on board with this pick too.
Also Tiger and Spieth are playing together and everyone knows that but I had to put it in here because you have to say something about Tiger and Spieth playing together.
